Organic v/s Convenctional farming
Organic farming can be termed as a traditional approach to farming which maintains certain principles that include ecological balance, sustainability, biodiversity, natural management of pests, natural plant manure and righteousness of soil. The basis for organic farming is to maintain balance with the natural environment and achieve good crop without harming the nature.
Conventional farming is emphasized on producing much yield per area and reducing cost and labor. In conventional farming various chemical and synthetic pesticides and herbicides are used, which pose a great threat to the environment and our health. Organic farms and products are certiﬁed by regulatory authorities of countries and regions, they periodically inspect the quality standards of food and inspect the health of soil for the use of any restricted chemical against their certiﬁcation. National Programme for Organic Production (NPOP) issues organic certiﬁcates in India and regulates them. In the US, these are issued by U. S. Department of Agriculture and by European Commission in Europe.
